1. Who we are

TravView is a video-first discovery app for travellers. Businesses — cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels and experience providers — post short videos of their own places, and tourists scroll those videos to see what somewhere actually looks like before they go.

TravView is operated by Ivan Struhár, based in Serbia. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at support@travview.com.

This policy explains what personal data we collect through the TravView mobile app and this website, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what control you have over it.

2. What we collect

Account information (everyone)

To create an account you can either sign up with an email address and password, or sign in with Google. We collect:

  • Email address — used to identify your account, verify it, and contact you about it.
  • Password — if you sign up with email. It is stored only as a secure hash; we never see or store your actual password.
  • Google profile details — if you choose Google sign-in, Google gives us your name, email address and profile photo. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not get access to anything else in your Google account.
  • Username — chosen by you, shown publicly next to your reviews.
  • Profile photo — optional. If you sign in with Google, your Google profile photo is used unless you change it.

Business account information

If you register as a business, we additionally collect:

  • Business name and contact email address.
  • Countries you operate in.
  • What kind of place you are — for example café, restaurant, bar, hotel or experience.
  • Your goal on TravView — optional, free text. This is internal only: it is visible to our team and is never shown to tourists or other businesses.
  • Locations — the address of each venue and its position as a pin on a map.
  • Profile photo and cover photo for your business page.
  • Videos and their captions that you upload.

Content you create as a traveller

  • Saved videos — the videos you save, so you can find them again.
  • Reviews — a star rating, review text, and up to three photos per review.
  • Reports — if you report a review, we record which review you reported and why, so our team can look at it.

How you use the app

We count how many times each video is viewed. We use this only to rank videos in the feed, so that videos people actually watch are shown more often. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Location

We only ask for your location when you open the Nearby feature, and only if you grant permission. Your location is used at that moment to find videos of places close to you. We do not store your location — it is not saved to your account or kept in our database after the search.

You can refuse or withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings. The rest of the app keeps working normally without it; only Nearby needs it.

3. Why we use it

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we must have a legal basis for using your personal data. Ours are:

What we doWhyLegal basis
Create and run your account So you can sign in, save videos and post reviews Performance of a contract
Send verification and account emails To confirm your address and keep your account secure Performance of a contract
Show business pages, videos and reviews This is the core purpose of the app Performance of a contract
Count video views To rank the feed so useful videos surface Legitimate interests
Review businesses, videos and reviews before publishing To keep out spam, fakes and harmful content Legitimate interests
Use your location in Nearby To find videos close to you Your consent

We do not show ads, and we never sell your personal data to anyone.

4. Moderation and review

To keep TravView trustworthy, our team reviews certain content before it becomes visible to other people:

  • Business accounts are checked and approved before the business appears in the app.
  • Business videos are checked before tourists can see them.
  • Reviews are checked before they go public.
  • Reported reviews are looked at by our team after a report comes in.

This means a small number of authorised people on our team can see this content, including content that has not been published yet.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other sites. It stores a small amount of data in your browser only where that is needed for the site to work.

The TravView app stores your login session on your own device so you do not have to sign in every time you open it. Signing out clears it.

6. Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers to run TravView. They process data on our instructions and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.

ServiceWhat it does for usWhere
Supabase Our database and sign-in system — accounts, business details, reviews, saved videos Frankfurt, Germany (EU)
Cloudflare Stores and delivers videos and photos, and hosts this website Global content network
Resend Sends sign-up and verification emails Email delivery
Google Google sign-in — only if you choose to sign in with Google Google infrastructure
OpenStreetMap services Looking up addresses and displaying maps OpenStreetMap infrastructure

We may also disclose data if we are legally required to — for example in response to a valid order from a court or authority.

7. Where your data is stored

Your account data, business details, reviews and saved videos are stored in our Supabase database on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, inside the European Union.

Videos and photos are stored with Cloudflare and delivered through its global network, which means copies may be cached on servers outside the EU so the app loads quickly wherever you are. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is covered by the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account data — for as long as your account exists.
  • Your content (videos, reviews, photos, saved videos) — until you delete it, or until you delete your account.
  • Video view counts — kept as totals per video, not linked to individual users.
  • Location used in Nearby — not stored at all.
  • Reports of reviews — kept while we deal with the report and for a reasonable period afterwards, so repeat problems can be spotted.

When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems. Copies may remain in routine backups for a short period before those backups expire.

9. Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete your data — see section 10.
  • Get a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict how we use your data where we rely on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it — for example by turning off location permission.

To exercise any of these, email support@travview.com. We will respond within one month.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Deleting your account

You can delete your TravView account at any time, in either of these ways:

  • In the app — go to Settings → delete account.
  • By email — write to support@travview.com from the address on your account.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your saved videos and your reviews. If you run a business account, it also removes your business page, its locations and its videos.

11. Children

TravView is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@travview.com and we will remove it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

13. Contact us

Questions about this policy or your data? Email support@travview.com and we will get back to you.
